Foundation
Established in 1982 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the Foundation was created
to support professional development through scholarships to credit union volunteers, management, and staff.
Today, our programs have grown to include grants that assist credit unions in providing affordable financial
services, credit union development, and public financial education. In 2006, we became the Credit Union
Foundation of Colorado and Wyoming and now maintain a segregated fund for the specific purpose of building a
stronger credit union movement through Wyoming credit unions.
While both Wyoming and Colorado share in the administrative and operating expenses of the Foundation,
fundraising and grant making activities remain exclusive to each state’s programs. Under this
structure, the Foundation will increase its impact and reach throughout the two states.
Since inception, we have disbursed more than $850,000 to non-profit organizations, credit unions, credit
union personnel, and credit union members in the furtherance of our mission. This funding touches thousands
of lives each year and we continue to make inroads towards a future of personal financial freedom for
everyone in our community. Our work is made possible by the generous contributions of individuals, credit
unions, and system partners who help us put “people helping people” into action.
